Durgapur Branch of EIRC

Bhubaneswar Branch of Eastern India Regional Council (EIRC) of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) was setup on 16 September 1979.

Presently it is the largest branch in the eastern India region. Since its establishment it has been conducting various Study Circle Meetings, Seminars and Conferences every year, to keep the fraternity abreast of the recent happenings and needed changes relevant to the profession.

Purchase of land for branch in 1997, measuring about 8,000 Sq Ft., was possible by generous contribution of members. Located in an institutional area in the heart of the city, it was allotted by legendary Late Biju Pattnaik, the then Chief Minister of Orissa. The foundation stone was laid in 1999 by Sri Rahul Roy, President of ICAI and the construction of the building with a plinth area of 4000 Sq Ft was started in the year 2000.

With the selfless dedicated efforts of a few members in supervising the construction and monetary support coming from members, the complex was inaugurated on 31 January 2005 by His Excellency Sri Rameswar Thakur, several Central Council and EIRC Members.

The building has a well-furnished air conditioned auditorium with a capacity to seat 250 persons complete with its own audio visual equipments, a well-stocked library-cum-reading room for 25 persons, a boardroom, other modern office facilities and a large space surrounded by shadow giving trees.
