Cuttack also known as "Silver city of Orissa" for its silver filigree established a branch about 30 years back as Orissa branch of Chartered Accountants of EIRC, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, has made its sojourn with a few members through the years to meet its goal of education and profession. Subsequently the branch was shifted to Bhubaneswar in the year 1982 as it had maximum members in comparison to Cuttack. With continuous efforts of several years by many of our senior members, Cuttack Branch was renovated in the year 1990 in presence of all Central Council Members and Mr. Dalal as President who were at Bhubaneswar for Central Council Meeting there. It is a unique occasion when a branch is formed in presence of full Central Council Members.
At present the Branch has strength of 141 members in practice. It has well equipped and furnished office with modern facilities. It has a well-versed and need based Books and Journals to meet the demand of the members and students. It is presently functioning at a rented building at Barabati Stadium Cuttack and it is striving to raise resources and fund for its own building on the land allotted by the Cuttack Development authority at Bidanasi. Our past president Sri R. Bhupaty had led the foundation stone on 25.01.04 for construction of branch building.
It has left no stone unturned rather added many feathers to its cap. It has successfully organized All India National Conference in December 2005 and 25th Regional Conference in January 2001. It has been awarded with the Best Branch Award thrice in the Eastern India Region in the year 1995-96, 2000-01 & recently for the year 2005-06 under the dynamic leadership of then chairman CA. J. K. Sahoo, CA. K. C. Sethia and CA. H. K. More respectively. It was also awarded the excellent performance certificate for the year 2001-02 under the chairmanship of CA. M. P. Mohapatra.
One of its senior members Dr. D Sahoo nominated as member to fee structure committee for private professional College on the state of Orissa constituted by Government of Orissa headed by, Justice P. K. Patra, the retired Judge of High Court of Orissa under the Direction of Honble Supreme Court in the year 2004. The C.A Examination centre at CUTTACK is the oldest only in Orissa which has been functioning for last 25 years.
