In the year 1984 a chapter of ICAI was formed under the chairmanship of Sri P.C.Maskara with few number of members. Since then no turning back, the unflinching confidence and the pride they carried in their heart was the result that the chapter was converted in to a Branch under the chairmanship of Mr. D. K. Banerjee in the year 1990 with a strength of more or less 43 members. The Branch has its own Building ( ICAI Bhawan ) at Teenbati More, Near over bridge Siliguri - 734005. Today we are 135 members to bear the torch of this Branch. The greater enthusiasm and commitment of the then members helped this Branch to be recognized as an examination center in the year 1998. We started to organize the CA examinations for PE I, PE II and for Final course. The results at each level are also very encouraging and satisfactory. The branch also organizes Students elocution and quiz contest in every year which motivates students to appear in public and present their views. The branch has been holding teleconferences, seminars, CPE programs on various topics as a part of its regular activities to keep ourselves updated with recent developments in the fields of Taxation, Audit, corporate Law etc. The Institute has started a post qualification course on Information System Audit ( ISA ) for the members. Till date 49 members have become Qualified System Auditor under this course. Other post qualification courses on IRM, WTO are also undertook by our members and getting success also.

The number of membership is growing with a faster pace and keeping that in mind we are planning to construct and develop the 1st Floor of the existing building so as to serve the members in a better way. In future we will try to install a video conferencing facility to develop a network with as many branches as possible.
